Truth be told, this was a very difficult list to compile. There was always something to love above the different countries and cities we visited. In the end, we selected places that had the ideal mix of activities and sights, and where quality/price ratio was optimal
Kauai was just the optimal combination of a relaxed vibe, great beaches, great hiking, great food, and fun activities like snorkeling. Perfect place for a relaxing yet fun low-key holiday.
Hard to argue with Isabelle’s all-time “coup de coeur”, the Lake Bled area, in northern Slovenia, which offered spectacular scenery, great restaurants, and easy access to great hiking trails and the increasingly famous Vintgar gorge. We also found Slovenia’s capital Ljubljana to be both very lovely and charming. We would love to go back and explore other regions of the country.
Of the three, Iceland was definitely the most mesmerizing place. Fantastic landscapes and waterfalls galore. It was docked points for being very pricey and not always having the best weather.
Namibia was just so awesome, don’t get us wrong. The main deterrent to going back would be the very long and expensive flights. And when we return to Africa, we’re inclined to visit a different country, possibly South Africa or Tanzania.
